Club FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything families ask us about memberships, evaluations, indoor hockey, uniforms, tournaments and weather.

Memberships & Clinics

The main difference is the number of hours of instruction you receive. Our Club Membership has three options:

  • Year Membership: 24 hours of instruction during the Winter, Spring and Summer seasons
  • Full Season Membership: 12 practices, 24 hours of instruction during the current season
  • Half Season Membership: 6 practices, 12 hours of instruction during the current season

Club members are also required to purchase a practice pinnie and their uniform. Each clinic is one hour and runs for 8 weeks, so clinic players receive 8 hours of instruction. Both club members and clinic players can compete in our tournaments.

Depending on the membership type you select, your membership includes 3 seasons of practice (Year Membership), 12 practices (Season Membership) or 6 practices of your choosing (Half Season Membership).

Yes, you can sign up for as many practices as fit your schedule.

Evaluations

Yes. All new players are required to attend the scheduled evaluation session, where we evaluate current ability levels to design each player’s curriculum plan for the season.

Yes, there is a small fee of $50.

Yes. Signing up for your membership as soon as possible secures your spot at that location. Each site has a set player limit to ensure quality practices.

You have two options:

  • Sign up for and attend another site’s evaluation session.
  • Sign up for the evaluation session online anyway, and have a coach email a simple recommendation to dbrickey@htcfieldhockey.com.

Indoor & Outdoor Hockey

There are two types of field hockey played in the U.S.: the traditional outdoor game and indoor field hockey. Our main club teaches outdoor skills on field turf. Indoor hockey is played on a smooth surface with side boards the ball can be played off of, and requires a lighter indoor stick. The United States has separate outdoor and indoor National Teams; they are two completely different games. Indoor sessions are listed on the Club page under HTC Indoor Season.

Yes, of course! You can sign up for both memberships.

No. “Outdoor hockey” means we teach the skills used in the traditional outdoor game. All of our winter practices are held inside.

Registration & Uniforms

Click a Register Now button on any program to go to our registration site, where you can select your membership type. You can also browse everything on the HTC calendar.

Yes. All club members are required to purchase the uniform kit for field players or goalkeepers. The field player kit includes the practice pinnie needed for practices.

Visit the Store page. You can choose your uniform type, sizes and number, with required, recommended and spirit wear sections. Orders ship directly to your home.

Tournaments

Tournaments are posted on the Tournaments page each season. Sign up for any that fit your schedule: all, some or none. Fees range from $50 for local tournaments to $700 for national showcases. We combine players from all of our sites into teams. Registration closes one week before each tournament, so sign up early.

Yes, we group players from the same school together as much as possible.

Weather, Cancellations & Credits

We notify players and families at least two hours before the start time through the Announcements page, social media and email.

No. Players can make up a cancelled practice by attending another HTC club location; there is no need to notify us, since attendance is taken at every site.

No. Practices missed for personal reasons are not credited to another season, and all practices in your membership must be attended in the season chosen. See our Refund & Cancellation Policy for details.
